Myaamia Ribbonwork Workshop

  • Lark's Song, Inc. 401 South Washington Street Marion, IN, 46953 (map)

This free Culture Care workshop with Miami Tribe of Oklahoma’s Tribal Historic Preservation Officer, Diane Hunter, will inform and educate current residents of the traditional and ancestral lands of Myaamiaki (Miami People) on traditional Miami ribbonwork.

Diane Hunter will share about traditional Miami ribbonwork and show modern examples of ribbonwork pieces. She will guide participants in making a ribbonwork-style bookmark. All ages are welcome, but young children will need parental assistance. All in-person participants will receive a small kit with the necessary supplies when they arrive.

We are limiting the in-person participants to a total of 20 people.

Lark’s Song employees live and work on the traditional and ancestral lands of Myaamiaki (the Miami Nation) as well as several other unnamed and unknown tribes. We recognize that this statement and session is a small piece of the bigger work that is ongoing and needed for true restoration to occur, and we are committed to partnering with our Myaamia friends and neighbors with curiosity, compassion, and respect by honoring their requests for spaces to share their stories.

To register, please complete the contact form below and join us at Lark’s Song from 5:30-6:30 PM. We will begin the session on time, so please arrive a few just a few minutes early to sign in, get your supplies, and find your spot.
